Dr. Michelle Sutherland was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. Her love of travel led her to earn a combined degree in Microbiology and Immunology and History of Science and Technology at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia before she returned to Georgetown University for her medical training. She graduated from an OBGYN residency at Washington Hospital Center and has spent time in many of the DC and Northern Virginia hospitals.
Dr. Sutherland is excited to work together with patients and their partners to achieve personalized goals. She is an avid runner and cyclist and is interested in the positive impact of nutrition and exercise on women’s overall health and pregnancies.
Dr. Sutherland is passionate about reproductive healthcare including contraceptive options and family planning. She has a special interest in working with adolescents as well as women who have pelvic pain and irregular or heavy menstrual cycles. She has expertise in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and enjoys both high and low risk obstetrics.
